As part of our commitment to delivering industry-leading services and providing an excellent service to all of our stakeholders, we view training and professional development as a priority for all of our members of staff.
At 4th Corner, we believe in teamwork and opportunity, and we strive to inspire confidence and passion in all individuals throughout our business. We provide our staff with the experience, skills and training they need to build a successful career in horticulture, and set all of our employees on a pathway of ongoing training from day one.
As part of our commitment to continual training and development, five of our Grounds Maintenance team attended a powered pole pruner training course with Brampton Valley Training in Towcester at the beginning of January.
Senior Team Leader, Matthew, attended the course alongside Team Leader Ashley and Skilled Operatives Kobi, Scott and Harry. All of them have achieved their Level 2 Award in Using a Powered Pole Pruner, awarded by Lantra/City and Guilds. This qualification enables our grounds maintenance staff to prune trees using pole mounted, long reach pruning equipment, including extendable pruning saws, powered pole pruners and loppers.
Matthew, Ashley, Kobi, Scott and Harry are now trained on health and safety practices when using pole pruners, pole pruner maintenance and sharpening pole pruner chains. The course finished with a practical task teaching them several different cuts that adhere to the current standard for pruning in treework.
