Case Study: Bridgeway Multi-Storey Car Park Planters, Stratford-upon-Avon

Client: Stratford District Council
Location: Bridgeway Multi-Storey Car Park, Stratford-upon-Avon
Duration: One week
Completed by: Julian Ransom, Thea Ransom, William Manvell & Rob Palmer at 4th Corner Landscaping

Project Overview

Stratford District Council commissioned 4th Corner Landscaping to revitalise a series of neglected planters at the Bridgeway Multi-Storey Car Park in Stratford-upon-Avon. Over time, the planters had become overgrown with weeds and had remained empty for several seasons. The aim of the project was to reintroduce low-maintenance ornamental planting to improve the visual appeal of the structure and provide a welcoming environment for visitors and local residents.

Scope of Works

A total of 34 planters were restored across three levels on the east side of the car park, a further 28 were weeded to enable further planting in the spring

• Level 5 – 8 planters planted with Miscanthus sinensis ‘Morning Light’, eight ornamental grasses per planter in a staggered layout.
• Level 3 – 14 planters planted with Miscanthus sinensis ‘Ferner Austin’, again at eight specimens per planter in staggered spacing.
• Level 1 – 12 planters planted with Miscanthus sinensis ‘Kleine Silberspinne’, eight two-litre shrubs in each planter to provide texture and year-round structure.

All planters were cleared of weeds and debris before soil preparation and re-planting. Access was achieved safely using mobile scaffolding, with full adherence to 4th Corner’s health and safety procedures.

Delivery and Outcome

The project was completed efficiently within one week, with all waste materials removed from site and responsibly recycled. The newly planted planters now bring life and greenery back to a prominent part of Stratford’s town centre, enhancing both the appearance of the car park and the experience of its daily users.
