Giorgo - Level 3 Diploma, Morton Morell College
I started working at 4th Corner in August 2012. I was very keen from a young age to work in horticulture as I particularly enjoy being outdoors, and gardening and grounds maintenance allows me to do. I began an apprenticeship at Morton Morell College on joining 4th Corner, and completed Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture in September 2015, and went on to complete my Level 3 RHS Diploma in 2016.
My Diploma topics include: Tree names, Plant names, Machinery used in horticulture, Machine Maintenance, Health and Safety, Tractor Driving and Soft Landscaping.
I was very lucky to find an apprenticeship in this sector as I wanted to work outside with plants and gain qualifications and knowledge at the same time. After a month at 4th Corner I realised that the company was able to provide me with the right type of training using both external providers and also through their “Working With Us” in-house training scheme.
I have gained knowledge and confidence over past few years, and the thing I like most about working at 4th Corner is the strong working relationships and communication between the Staff and Directors.
Since 2015 I have been managing the Grounds Maintenance at Clarkes Court, a sizable Residential Development in Banbury, as well as working alongside new apprentices on other sites, to pass on my skills and knowledge. I am now also leading the Soft Planting division at 4th Corner which enables me to run my own team and manage individual soft landscaping projects.
